The Ocmulgee River is a western tributary of the Altamaha River, approximately 255 mi (410 km) long, in Georgia. Noted for its relatively unspoiled and gentle current, it provides the principal drainage for a large section of central Georgia. Also, the Ocmulgee is a major reason the water quality in Macon is so good. The Ocmulgee has been well taken care of which is why there is not much erosion or pollution in the area. A large part of why the area is so well taken care of is because it is extremely important to the area and the people in it.
