Global Climate
The Medieval Warm Period (MWP), Medieval Climate Optimum, or Medieval Climatic Anomaly was a time of warm climate in the North Atlantic region that may also have been related to other climate events around the world during that time including China. During this period colonization began towards North America because of the changing climate and better weather conditions for settlers. Because of the warmer weather; the soil was able to be used to plant crops and farming took off during this time of warm weather because they were able to keep the majority of their crops from dying. The Medieval Warm Period was followed by a much colder period called the Ice Age. It had the opposite effect on the population because they were unable to grow crops and the living conditions were much worse than they were before.
